Klavier am Rhein 2026

The Structure of the Festival

All participants get individual lessons from their assigned professor. Each student will receive 4 individual lessons (60 minutes)  during their stay on the retreat. Lesson times are from 9:30-12:30. Following the lunch break, daily workshops (between 14:00-15:30)  are offered to all students. The workshops  will be followed by an afternoon public master class  (16:00-18:00) given by one of the professors. Selected students will be chosen upon recommendation of their professors to participate in the public master class. Following dinner a daily evening concert is given by our participants and professors (19:30-21:00).

Piano Solo

One of the categories for participation in the Piano at the Rhine Festival is the Piano Solo category. The participant receives private lessons, plays in master classes and concerts and learns in workshops and seminars.

Chamber music

The Klavier am Rhein Festival offers great opportunities for chamber music. There is the option to register for the chamber music program. The pieces must be written for at least one piano, the other instruments are variable. After you have registered for chamber music, we will clarify with which other musicians you will perform your pieces. Of course there will be joint rehearsals in which you can practise the pieces.

Everyone who chooses the chamber music program will be guided by the artistic director Yossi Reshef and another professor for chamber music performance, in lessons and master classes specifically for chamber music. There will also be a special theme day for chamber music in which the focus will be entirely on chamber music.

Facilities and Accomodation

All our participants and professors live during the 8 days on the island. Students share double rooms and are offered a full board including 3 meals a day at the island restaurant. Special dietary requests such as vegetrian options are available upon request.

Performance Opportunities

In addition to the evening concerts during the festival, which are offered to our participants and friends or family members, additional public concerts will be offered to some outstanding students. These concerts will be offered to the general public in nearby cities during the festival. More details to follow soon.

Recording and video

Students are allowed to record their private lessons. All public masterclasses and concerts will be recorded on video by the festival and will be available for our students to use in their social media platforms. Students agree to the right of the festival to use any of these materials on our website, youtube channel and social media.

Workshops

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress. This technique is used by many concert pianists as a means to regulate their performances and performance preparation,

Autogenic training is a relaxation technique first published by the German psychiatrist Johannes Heinrich Schultz in 1932. The technique involves repetitions of a set of visualisations accompanied by vocal suggestions that induce a state of relaxation and is based on passive concentration of bodily perceptions like heaviness and warmth of limbs, which are facilitated by self-suggestions.] Autogenic training is used to alleviate many stress-induced conditions.
